PLACEmats

PLACEmats presents a series of printed paper placemats created to address the significance of place in our lives. The mats were designed by artists specifically for restaurants in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. The exhibition was conceptualized and organized by Kristofer Harzinski, artist and Founder of FREE DESIGN, and curated by Harriet Hacker, Director of Where. The project consists of two exhibitions. The first exhibition takes place during the month of January at participating local restaurants. Each restaurant will use our donated paper placemats on their tables throughout the month allowing restaurant patrons a unique art experience. A follow up exhibition will be held at Parlor Gallery in Lancaster, Pennsylvania featuring the original works used to create the placemats. The entire series of printed PLACEmats will be available for sale to help benefit the project.

This project was supported by Pennsylvania Partners in the Arts (PPA), the regional arts funding partnership of the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a state agency. State government funding comes through an annual appropriation by Pennsylvania's General Assembly and from the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency. PPA is administered in this region by the Berks Arts Council.
